Erica Ambrose, RMT

Erica recently completed a 3000 hour massage therapy program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria BC (Dec 2013).  Erica believes in treating the client as a whole rather than just a specific problem, which may have brought them into the clinic in the first place. Erica uses a combination of relaxation techniques, including light or deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Myofascial release, Muscle energy techniques, Craniosacral therapy, Joint mobilizations and Trigger point therapy to create a treatment plan specifically tailored to each client.  Erica also develops home-care programs designed to fit daily schedules and lifestyles.

Erica's prior education includes a BA from the University of Saskatchewan and travelling throughout Asia completing Level 4 Northern Thai Massage training at ITM in Chang Mai, Thailand, Thai Aromatherapy Oil Massage and Reiki & Seichem Level 3 in Koh Phangan, Thailand.  She has recently completed Dr Vodder's Manual Lymph Drainage level 1 in Victoria, BC.  Erica has been practicing massage for 7 years through her own studio, which she first started in her native Saskatchewan.

Erica recently received in depth training for assessing and treating the jaw. Many people suffer from symptoms of TMJ dysfunction. Treatments can include massage both outside and inside the mouth to loosen tight jaw muscles. Massage and homecare can help provide relief from these symptoms. If you experience any of the following symptoms please ask if TMJ massage is right for you.

TMJ Dysfunction Symptoms

  • Pain in the jaw, ear, neck, shoulders or head
  • Headaches
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Tooth pain
  • Dizziness
  • Decreased ability to open the mouth

Erica is also happy to begin providing Northern Thai Massage (aka lazy persons yoga) she has been practicing this modality for 7 years. Thai massage is an interactive form of bodywork. It combines elements of yoga, acupressure, and massage. You remain passive while the practitioner does the movements to you. Through application of pressure on energy lines and points, and passive stretching movements, the body experiences profound relaxation. Thai massage is performed on a mat on the floor with the client comfortably dressed in loose clothing.  There are also specific treatments for headaches, back pain, shoulder, arm, or leg pain, and menstruation.
