Remedial Exercise

After a massage therapy treatment, the client is given remedial exercises. These exercises are part of a treatment plan which include specific stretching and strengthening techniques that the client is able to do at home. With the self-care plan the client is able to understand what he/she can do to maintain the body on a daily basis.

Research study: Physical therapy in the treatment of fibromyalgia

Massage may reduce muscle tension and may be prescibed as a adjunct with other therapeutic interventions, such as a self-care program. Accordingly a multidisciplinary approach combining these therapies in a well-balanced program may be the most promising strategy and is currently recommended in the treatment of fibromyalgia.
